Alameda County public libraries provide more than books— they also offer free play centers, workshops, and playgroups to help parents and caregivers kickstart early learning and social experiences for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

4Cs – Community Child Care Council of Alameda County
4Cs serves providers in Hayward, Fremont, and San Leandro with fun and interactive playgroups for families with young children ages birth to 5.
Playing is learning is the theme for BANANAS’ playgroups held in Oakland and Berkeley public libraries and at their office in Oakland.
Child Care Links
Child Care Links is located in Pleasanton and holds playgroups throughout the year for grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and family caring for children birth to 5.

Adventure Playground is one of the Marina Experience programs and has been written up as a top 10 playground in National Geographic.
BANANAS gives away free clothing, equipment, toys, and diapers for infants and children of low-income families through our BANANAS Boutique. These items are donated by parents and supporters, and families can simply take what they need.
Bay Area Discovery Museum (1st Wed/each month free)
A one-of-a-kind indoor and outdoor children’s museum at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge. 7.5 acres of fun for children 0-10 years featuring seasonal camps and classes.
Bay Area Kid Fest (0-2 yrs, seniors free)
Bay Area KidFest is an annual 3-day holiday weekend of quality live entertainment, activities and sports for children to stimulate learning and exploration while presenting parents with new ideas and opportunities from arts & crafts and other exhibitors.

Car Seat Assistance Program
Contact Child Care Links to learn about how you can receive a FREE car seat, or booster seat, to replace your outgrown, damaged, or recalled seat. Free car seats are also available to low income families, families experiencing challenging situations, or are in need.
Children’s Fairyland (0-1 yrs free)
Opened in 1948, Fairyland is a landmark children’s entertainment attraction in Oakland’s Lake Merritt.
The Child Care Links Diaper Pantry provides low-income families with a one month supply of disposable diapers, a children’s book and recommended activities to support talking, reading and singing during diaper time. This is available for Tri-Valley families only.
Exploratorium (EBT, 0-3 yrs, CA Public Teachers free)
The Exploratorium is an ongoing exploration of science, art and human perception with a vast collection of changing experiences that feed curiosity in children and adults.
An annual free, family-friendly, inclusive, participatory arts event held in multiple cities and drawing tens of thousands of participants each year.

Oakland City Center Events
